ANTI-BULLYING WEEK

Below, you can read information about BULLYING!

This week, at my school is Anti-Bullying Week and “Odd socks Day”. Something I only heard about on social media or schools from other countries, but in no case at schools in Romania. I talked in previous blogs about the education we receive…

“I said I wouldn’t say anything until I leave Romanian education… but there isn’t much left.” – It didn’t take long, after a few weeks from that blog, I moved to the private system and I have another view of things that are happening and have happened. I will quote from previous blogs:

“One of the most powerful things that can affect a teenager is BULLYING. It affects the receiver but also the bully. Unfortunately, in our schools no one discourages these things. ” – It is true, and I was a “victim” of bullying (at my former school, now I am in one that validates and takes these things seriously), which happens in schools not only from children but also from teachers, and I don’t say, just to be said, any open-minded person could notice that. I’m going to be told, “wow, you are complaining!” or “wow, that’s nothing, there are worse things in the world!”, I know I’ve heard these phrases before. I have heard not to speak, not to mention these things because people will consider that I have a problem or that no one will hire me. Well, guess what? I don’t care !! If we are different, we are not stupid or crazy or I don’t know how you consider us.

“CAN NO ONE REALLY SEE THIS FROM THE BEGINNING ?? OR WHEN SOMEONE NOTICES, THEY ARE STILL NOT PUNISHED !! What about the children or when the teachers make fun and humiliate the students. I don’t take from “books”… I say from my own experience with my former colleagues and teachers… I said I won’t say or give examples but at some point, someone has to say!!!!!! ”- unfortunately, these things are noticed, but no one takes action against them: “CORRUPTION”

I will do my duty to make people aware of these things so please read the following lines !!

Bullying is an ongoing and deliberate misuse of power in relationships through repeated verbal, physical and/or social behaviour that intends to cause physical, social and/or psychological harm. It can involve an individual or a group misusing their power, or perceived power, over one or more persons who feel unable to stop it from happening.

Bullying can happen in person or online, via various digital platforms and devices and it can be obvious (overt) or hidden (covert). Bullying behaviour is repeated, or has the potential to be repeated, over time (for example, through sharing of digital records).

There are three types of bullying:

  • Verbal bullying is saying or writing mean things. Verbal bullying includes:
    • Teasing
    • Name-calling
    • Inappropriate sexual comments
    • Taunting
    • Threatening to cause harm
  • Social bullyingsometimes referred to as relational bullying, involves hurting someone’s reputation or relationships. Social bullying includes:
    • Leaving someone out on purpose
    • Telling other children not to be friends with someone
    • Spreading rumours about someone
    • Embarrassing someone in public
  • Physical bullying involves hurting a person’s body or possessions. Physical bullying includes:
    • Hitting/kicking/pinching
    • Spitting
    • Tripping/pushing
    • Taking or breaking someone’s things
    • Making mean or rude hand gestures

Bullying of any form or for any reason can have immediate, medium and long-term effects on those involved, including bystanders.

BULLYING can happen in public places (school, workplace, playgrounds, etc.), on the Internet (cyberbullying), but also in private (friends, relatives, etc.).

Single incidents and conflicts or fights between equals, whether in person or online, are not defined as bullying.

What bullying is not

  • single episodes of social rejection or dislike
  • single episode acts of nastiness or spite
  • random acts of aggression or intimidation
  • mutual arguments, disagreements or fights.

These actions can cause great distress. However, they do not fit the definition of bullying and they’re not examples of bullying unless someone is deliberately and repeatedly doing them.

ANTI-BULLYING WEEK!

“‘ One kind word ’announced as the theme for Anti-Bullying Week 2021”

“Kindness is more important today than it has ever been. The isolation of the last year has highlighted how few acts of consideration and charity can break down barriers and illuminate the lives of the people around us. ”
